I like that some sensed people are still able to recognize that whether Erling Haaland or Leo Messi take the award home, it's valid. Changes from all the others ~ wave hand in a general direction ~ people. Not even to mention how past and current football figures agree on it too. Soothes my mind.
Honestly I'm just tired of talking about it, since 1) it's silly 2) it's settled 3) it's simple. Let's make it plain.
"Why not just put the goals?"
There are awards for the best goalscorer. This isn't one of them.
Brief comparison
Haaland had a maddening records breaking season, won the treble, but didn't show up for the semi and finals of those. Messi did an average club season (equal to, if I remember correctly, the "excellent" season of Antoine Griezmann so, there's that.) and an all-time World Cup campaign. It's a WC year; it has since after 2010 (year of change of criterias + voting participants) weighted on the BO's results.
The reason it's a close call this year is cause of the treble (huge weight) balanced by the ghosting of Haaland during those crucial points vs WC all time balanced by the average club season of Messi. Haaland being a 9 means that when he's not there, he doesn't do anything for the team. Stems from his position. Whereas if Messi doesn't score, he still has his passing and playmaking which, picture me surprised, actually make him having more impact as a player for his team.
Look at the pic. Make the needed mental gymnastics. To get to the conclusion that one of them is robbing the other is mental. Both are deserving.
WC's weight
It's ultimately this and the WC's weight (and I sure ain't about to get into an argument comparing the treble, insane achievement that can be achieved every year, to the WC, insane achievement that can be achieved once every four, and being the MOTT of said tournament) that makes it tip towards Messi, even though I expect the votes to be close. The WC has been held over Messi's head for more than a decade. Everyone knew that if he put a consistent season and a good WC campaign, he'd been a strong contender. He had a consistent season and had an all-time, MOTT WC campaign. Point's made.
Criteria : Vital role
Another point: the "vital role in the team and honours" criteria. Haaland makes this City team dominate, not a shadow of doubt. But Kevin de Bruyne is the one that's vital to it. Take away KDB and Haaland isn't there (once again: stems from his position. He's a 9.)
Due to his national team not being in the WC (which once again : he's indeed from Norway, a NT which hasn't much WC history. But, in 2018, Messi single handedly drew Argentina to the WC. Haaland wasn't capable of this.), he couldn't prove himself to be crucial there either. So, Haaland is important but not vital to this City team, whereas Messi was important in PSG (a-fucking-gain, 40 G/A, this isn't an argument) and vital for his NT. There you go, one criteria more.
Sweet sweet "robberies"
When you got R9, Wenger, Henry, some France NT (Griezmann and others, can't recall), Hazard, Silva and co - current/former players who played and know the weight of the WC - saying Messi deserves it; the club coach of Haaland saying they'd both deserve it ; and you arrive to the conclusion that Messi is robbing Haaland (or, for that matter, that Haaland would be robbing Messi), then the true reason of your positionning can't be clearer.
And finally,
Those are what you call robberies. Can't be one when both deserve it. Haaland will be just fine and will have plenty of WC-free seasons to destroy every records available and show up at crucial points. Chill. I'm done talking about this, people are to stuck to their own opinions to be changed atp.
This is a fun night, I'm so ready to make fun of everyone's fit and awkward talk. It ain't that deep. Hope everyone, whether for Haaland, Messi or bloody Musiala has fun!

Moving goalposts again
Sensing the tally of goals would be hard to overcome, and the number of international goals might be too much, and knowing that discounting penalties (their favourite excuse) wouldn’t work, Messi PR moves the goalposts with a new approach where they count the knockout goals of WC/Euros/Copa.
Euro: Sure failing to score against Germany (2008) in round 16, Terminator!Spain (2012), Belgium (2021) round 16 again and France (2024) is wildly inferior to scoring non decisive goals against Venezuela and the USA in 2015, Ecuador in 2021 and Canada in 2024. Oh I have to bow to the superior player!
WC: 2006, lose without scoring to France in semi and Germany in the third place match, Germany who also beat an Argentina in quarterfinal where the Golden child (GC) didn’t score. We made an Carragher and Rooney cried till their death though, so I count this a win. 2010, Portugal got Terminator Spain in RO16, Villa scored while he was offside but it’s okay because offside rules and VAR are for impertinent Portugueses not good Spanish boys. Once again GC didn’t score either so the fanboys have to add an assist on an offside goal, but again offside rule are for peasant. Argentina got slapped 4-0 by Germany but hey, clutch player! 2014: Ronaldo is injured. 2018: Messi assisted twice in a losing game against France. 2022: lol that bullshit ?
See the things with ESPN statistics or basic statistics ? Only terminally online morons trust ESPN and everyone should learn to read the notes before spewing numbers they don’t understand. I know everyone on X has the IQ of a room temperature or needs the hate agenda to justify the futility of their lives, but come on. and I didn’t count assists for Ronaldo : G/A is a made up stat hyped by the GC PR.
Messi scored against Canada? No one cares. Leave Ronaldo name out of your filthy mouths.
PS: and I didn’t count penalty shout outs, since apparently penalties are bad depending upon who take them.

K/DA Lore pt.3
It took me a while to decide on how teen Evelynn would look like. So I held off my last post until I could finalise her design. Yes I heavily based her off Maddison Beers look at the 2018 worlds. Its a shame I wasn't able to showcase her fashion I had in mind. Perhaps I'll try drawing a full body reference in the future.
Time for Kai'sa! KDA's most shallow member! (I love Kai'sa guys I swear. It's riot that ruined her potential.)
As a child Kaisa would travel a lot because of her father's work (military) She would grow up as a model student fluent in many languages and educated in geography and history. Kai'sa is socially underdeveloped due to her "really moves around" upbringing. She also is the "Broken Ace" type (nomadic life), always striving for perfection in her grades and career but in turn suffers socially. This makes Kai'sa very awkward and oblivious to social cues when interacting with people outside of a professional manner. Because of this, she was typically outcasted throughout the many schools she attended. Others feared her like she was some sort of monster. A creature too mysterious and focused on achieving to be understood. School became a hunt to survive mentality to kaisa and nothing else mattered in her world. Yet the longing to belong was still there in her heart. After discovering dance in her teens Kai'sa would start to evolve. She never had hobbies or any indulgences in her life. All she knew was how to survive an ever-changing environment as she constantly moved with her father's tours and deployments around the world. With dance, she finally opened herself up to the idea of living over surviving. From ballet in Russia to hip hop in the Americas Kaisa would find the universal language to feel herself and to connect to those around her no matter where in the world she was. Kaisa grew to have a passion for the arts, she discovered she was diversly gifted in creativity. Her hardworking attitude and serious studying nature helped her achieve many degrees. As an adult, she would make her own studio the Firefly Collective (located in America) where she would share her passion and teach others the wonderful world of dance and would go on to create a popular youtube channel for her studio (think 1MILLION Dance Studio). She was happy being a teacher and was astonished to have been visited by Ahri and Evelynn. Kaisa wasn't too aware of K-pop artists so she didn't recognize them as celebrities but her students did. They freaked out when popstars Ahri and Evelynn entered their dance studio. Seeking out someone to be their choreographer. Kaisa's students urged her to take this opportunity and so Kaisa became the third member of kda.
*Yes Kai'sas lore was mostly ripped off the comics. But I was able to add more context
*in 2018, one year before KDA debuted she won Hong Kong's "Can you dance?" competition. This success was what put her on Ahri and Evelynn's radar. (Kai'sa was 21 at the time)
*Kai'sa had a complete personality overhaul when she discovered dance. She went from the recluse, studyholic to the hippie, free spirited type.
*In her life Kai'sa has lived in 10 countries: China, South Africa, South Korea, France, America, Australia, United Kingdom, Russia, India and Argentina.
*She was born in south africa (as a omage to her default voice actor)
Art by me
Here's a link to my playlist of the music I think suits this pre KDA Kai'sa

I started being active this year tho, when I realised morocco was loved by people and I had a few people to relate to finally. I'm not very present on social media so that was a big deal for me.
Other blogs: nooo. I'm actually very wary of social media and I tend to be very strict about it and make as less accounts as possible.

Average hours of sleep: 6-7, but often less than that.

Canadian Swifties who hoped for local shows left wanting as Taylor Swift skips Canada
TORONTO - Taylor Swift is giving Canadian fans the cold shoulder.
While many Swifties expected the “Anti-Hero” singer-songwriter might add local tour stops to her growing schedule, they were disappointed on Tuesday when a wave of nearly 40 new dates left out Canada.
Swift announced her Eras Tour — which began in March with dates across the United States — is heading overseas in 2024 with four nights at Japan’s Tokyo Dome, and two in London’s Wembley Stadium.
Some of the other countries added to the calendar include France, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Austria, Germany, Poland, Portugal, and Singapore.
Swift’s tour will wind through Mexico, Argentina and Brazil later this year.
A representative for Universal Music Canada, which distributes her music domestically, did not respond to requests for comment.
Swift last played Canada when her Reputation Stadium Tour rolled through Toronto in 2018. One of the nights included a surprise appearance by Bryan Adams who sang his hit “Summer of ‘69” with her.
ts1989fanatic: lots of US fans on Twitter saying we should have gone to a US show, like we could afford to travel not all of us have the money or ability to travel. Then they would have bitched about us taking tickets away from us fans.

Messi wins eighth Ballon d'Or Award sets Record
Messi wins eighth Ballon d'Or Award sets Record. The 2023 Ballon d'Or winner for men has been named Lionel Messi in Paris. The 36-year-old Messi stood out among the 30 men on the shortlist for the award after leading Argentina to victory in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar last December. With Manchester City forward Erling Haaland coming in second in the ballot, the Inter Miami forward wins the individual trophy for a record-breaking eighth time. Messi declared: "Everyone is unique. It's good to be back here, able to savour this moment and realize my dream of winning the World Cup. "I never would have imagined achieving the success I have, the wealth I have, or the kind of career I have had." David Beckham, co-owner of Miami, gave Messi the award and remarked, "It's very special to say he's a Miami player and he's in our city." "He'll celebrate in his own style with his family and fellow teammates. We'll try our hardest to enjoy it in true Miami style. We can throw a great celebration, I'm sure." With eight Ballon d'Or victories, Messi leads the all-time list. He was first awarded the prize in 2009. Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo leads the field with five wins, followed by Frenchman Michel Platini and Dutch greats Johan Cruyff and Marco van Basten with three each. This time around, Haaland was Messi's closest opponent; Kylian Mbappe, the star player for Paris Saint-Germain and France, was voted third overall. Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne's teammate for City, came in sixth. The 2018 Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric placed tenth, while Karim Benzema, the winner from the previous year, finished sixteenth. 😭😭 I'm rooting against argentina / for chile for obvious reasons I guess?
what do you think about duponts return? feels quick..
are we ever gonna support the same team febbfezbfez
feels so fucking rushed; feels like ever since Jelonch made a quick recovery, they all wanna do it too.
it's said that if he gets hit again, it's going to be so much worse so im just??????????? are u gonna do like footballer umtiti??? who gave his body for the 2018 world cup win and they not play because you're too injured????
from what i heard, he's back in the group this weekend and will have a mental training to like be sure he is mentally ready to come back after everything that happened, he will have a specific training program and will probably train alone and he is sitting out the italy match. which is good. him being back in the group is kinda a good idea? bc he was the most recent captain and i think his speechs and advices can actually be good for the squad.
Now i know we can never win without him and i also doubt we can win against big teams if he plays while still injured. Just keep him in the group and use him for motivational speech. that's it.
Now, I have faith in Couilloud to take over his role perfectly and do the best he can. like Antoine is a big asset but he's not the only player in the team, and the fact that people think his rushed come back is good are just forgetting it's 33 players, not just 1 that are representing France. Just like Romain Ntamack is forfeit, we did pretty good without him, we can do good without Antoine as well even if we lose

Argentina decrees the end of Super Étendarts
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 05/18/23 - 18:34 in Military
The Ministry of Defense of Argentina confirmed today that the Dassault Super Étendart attack jets of French origin will no longer fly, one of the few combat jets that Argentina has.
The decision concerns both the original models acquired in 1979 and the second-hand ones purchased from France in 2018.
“We had planned to recover them and were targeted by the French Ministry of Defense, which said they could not be recovered for two reasons. The seats that the English did not give up and for a series of pieces that are no longer manufactured," Taiana specified during the Argentine Armed Day. "These aircraft were in service until 2016, when the French Navy deactivated the system and with it the manufacture of its components."
It was a British diplomatic decision that really ruined the Argentine operation with the Dassault Super Étendard jets. The presence of any British equipment now prohibited in this South American country, the ejection seats ?? and the explosive cartridges ensuring their operation were at the center of many discussions. In fact, it is the English company Martin-Baker that manufactures and markets them. The idea in 2017-2018 of buying five Modernized Super Standards from the French Navy was to make up for this deficiency and end Argentine purchases on the black market.
The Super Étendards have served the Argentine Navy since 1980 and played an important role in the Falklands War. In September 2017, the national government ordered the purchase of five Super Étendard Modernisé 5s (with more advanced aircraft than those already owned), along with 10 engines, spare parts and a simulator, with the intention of bringing this aircraft back to flight. However, the purchase of 12 million euros that arrived in the country in 2019 entered a gloomy panorama due to the deficiencies exposed by the Minister of Defense.
“If a local solution is not found, another option will have to be considered,” Taiana said regarding the possibility of buying a different weapons system.
Meanwhile, the issue of defense aircraft fleets in Argentina remains pending. The Argentine Air Force today is one of the few countries in the region without supersonic capacity.
Argentine Super Étendard jets will now probably be delivered to museums or become scrap.

But since you're franco-argentinian, for who were you rooting in the final??😳
Funnily enough, the toughest game for me to watch wasn't that 2022 WC final but the 2018 round of 16. 2010, they didn't met. 2014, they didn't met. 2018, I wasn't able to cheer on any goal because that meant one of my countries - both of whom hadn't won a WC in decades - had to go out. Ultimately, France won it, and it made things so much easier for the following international tournament, a no brainer, since I now needed Argentina to win it as well. Ngl, I got lucky asf that my 2 countries won it back to back haha, been on top of the world ever since 😌

The complete list of films featured on this blog’s 2023 “31 Days of Oscar” marathon
Hello everyone,
Thank you once more for allowing me to present the annual marathon of Oscar-nominated films to your dashboards. This year, the films were grouped by genre or subgenre in primetime (5 PM Pacific into the night). This is the most exclusive period on this blog, as the selection of films that I can post and queue about is at its most limited. But at the same time, the blog is at its most accessible as this yearly marathon’s selection skew to more popular fare. I hope you enjoyed this year’s presentation of 31 Days of Oscar.
What follows is the exhaustive list of all 380 short- and feature-length films featured on this blog over the last thirty-one days for the 31 Days of Oscar marathon. This is down from last year’s record of 420. But that count remains only a fraction of the 5,019 films that have been nominated for Academy Awards since 1927.
Of those 380, 37 were short films (53 short films is the record, which was set last year). 343 were feature films.

Time for the list. 62 Best Picture winners and the one (and only) winner for Unique and Artistic Production that I featured this year are in bold. Asterisked (*) films are films I haven’t seen in their entirety as of the publishing of this post. Films primarily not in the English language are accompanied with their nation(s) of origin.

The Best World Cup Final in History?
A recap of arguably the most intense World Cup Final of all-time
By Joshua Crisologo
Lionel Messi heading Argentina’s victory at the 2022 World Cup

On December 18, the 2022 FIFA World Cup came to a close; displaying a final that will be cemented as one of the best football matches in history.
The World Cup Trophy was hoisted by Argentina, who defeated the previous champions, France, in a match for the ages. The final score was 3-3 after extra time, with Argentina winning 4-2 on penalties.
Lionel Messi, one of the greatest football players of all time, scored the first goal of the match through a penalty in the 23rd minute. As celebration erupted, Argentina increased their lead through Ángel Di María’s goal in the 36th minute. Argentine jubilation filled the stadium that held 88,966 fans as halftime approached. The score was 2-0.
Fans of France had their hopes of a title slowly slip away until the French were given a penalty. Kylian Mbappé scored the penalty in the 80th minute with poise as the chances of a French comeback rose. Just under two minutes later, Mbappé added the equalizer for France off of an amazing volley, tying the score at 2. France was back in the game. Since the score was still tied at the end of regular time - the 90th minute - the match moved into extra time, which consisted of two 15 minute halves.
In the first half of extra time, Messi showcased his magic as he rebounded the ball into the goal in the 109th minute, making the score 3-2. Yet France bounced back once again as Mbappé scored his third goal of the match through another penalty in the 118th minute, earning himself the first hat trick (scoring three goals in the same match) in the World Cup finals since 1966. The score stayed 3-3 until the end of extra time, which meant that a penalty shootout would decide the winner. Argentina came out as the victor in penalties, as Gonzalo Montiel scored the winning penalty.
Argentina was awarded the World Cup Trophy as the awards ceremony proceeded. The FIFA Young Player Award, awarded to the best player who is at most 21 years old, went to Argentina’s Enzo Fernández. The Golden Glove, awarded to the best goalkeeper, went to Argentina’s Emiliano Martínez, who made an amazing save in the finals near the end of extra time. The Golden Boot, awarded to the player who scored the most goals, was given to Mbappé, who scored 8 goals throughout the tournament. Lastly, the Golden Ball, which is given to the best overall player in the World Cup, was awarded to none other than Messi himself.
Mbappé, despite losing the World Cup, has only just turned 24. Already having earned a World Cup trophy back in 2018, the French superstar has a long and bright path ahead of him. On the other hand, the World Cup trophy is the latest piece added to Messi’s arsenal of awards - one of the only pieces he was missing. As Messi approaches retirement, it would be a shame if he wasn’t able to become a world champion. With the World Cup and another Golden Ball in his hands, Messi has only fortified his status as one of the Greatest of All Time.
